Blog Entry:

The adventure\journey begins! Lesa had the great idea to leave at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon and get a HipCamp close to the border. This got us through all the traffic in Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, Everett and Bellingham that night.  Worked out great little over 4 hours later and we were camped in Ferndale on a small little farm. These 4 hours gave us a great start, at 8:07 AM we crossed the border into Canada.

We would have crossed the border sooner, but we had the great search for Lesa's coffee cup. Down the road about 4 miles Lesa asked where my coffee cup was and I said right there, where is yours. So, we pull over to look through the truck, look through the camper and back to the HipCamp.  Look around camp look in the truck again nothing. We start to leave camp and Lesa is like I know where it is…on the front bumper sitting nicely between the moose bars and the grill of the truck.  We had a really nice border agent, and he didn't mind that we had two fifths of tequila and a 12 pack. I told him I would be happy to pay the duty on the second fifth, but I just can't find decent tequila up north.  He said I'm sure you can't and not to worry about it. He asked about weapons, tobacco and if we knew anyone in Canada that we were bringing goods too. No, No and No. Then he asked what year the RAM was and how I liked it.  We then had a discussion on the HEMI 6.4 liter heavy duty engine we had.  I said I love it so far and it has been a beast. We stopped in Cache Creek as normal to gas up and get some Jack Daniels at the Gov't liquor store.  Believe it or not they are no longer carrying any liquor from the USA because of tariffs. So we found a "private" liquor store that had some, yes the prices reflected the tariffs, lol. Cache Creek also had our high for the day at 77 degrees.

While going through Spences Bridge we saw a sign telling you to look out for Bighorn Sheep and sure enough right under the sign there were 8 sheep laying there.  Granger and Moxee are doing good.  We figured Granger would just fall back into our routine since he has done this several times now and he has already. As for Moxee this is her first big trip, she has never driven all day before and stayed in the camper for any extended period of time.  As we thought she hasn't eaten or drank much trying to figure this whole thing out in only one day. We stop 4 times a day for them to get out to stretch their legs and check out the new environment.  She has been very excited with all the new places and smells. A few pics of them in the camper last night and us at Ten Mile camp this evening just outside of Quesnel, BC.

Most of the drive today has been in a smoky haze from all the fires along the way.  None that we have seen but the smoke has been bad.  Fortunately tonight at Ten Mile it is smoke free. Moxee finally ate her evening meal, yea! No fire tonight just sitting outside listening to the loons on the lake.

Today we drove Highway 1 which is the Goldrush Highway and Highway 97 which is the Caribou Highway.

Here is a pic we pulled from the ROVE video camera of the Bighorn Sheep.
