Blog Entry:

Woke up to almost 2 inches of snow and it was still snowing when we left. There has been snow on and off and all around us all day. As a matter of fact I'm typing this up by the campfire and it is flurrying. Varying depths but nothing more than 3 inches. The road from Inuvik to the McKenzie ferry was actually worse because now the pot holes and craters were covered by the snow and you couldn't see them and then it started melting and just added to the muddy mess. Took just over two hours to go 52 very hard miles. Saw a black bear before the McKenzie ferry, run across the road and an arctic hare.  Crossed both the McKenzie and then the Peel ferries, small wait at the McKenzie while they washed all the mud and rocks off after a semi came off of it. Then about another 20 miles of mess.

After that is was just beautiful driving and the scenery as you can see was spectacular, we love it when it is like this. Cold going through the pass down to 24 degrees but most of the day it was around 32 degrees. Crossed from the NWT into the Yukon and gained an hour, yea. In one of the photos you can see where the permafrost is pushing up and melting creating the icicles when freezing, seeing more and more of this.

We made it to what we call Grangers place and started getting the mud off of strategic places we were going to have to touch, then setup the rest of camp, take the pups for a walk in the tundra behind us, fed the pups, checked all the vital fluids in the RAM, checked all the tie downs for the Alaskan to the SherpTek system, chopped up some firewood, at dinner, took the pups for another walk in the tundra, helped them find what berries were left, then fed the pups, started a fire and started on the blog. Now maybe we can relax by the fire. We plan on staying tomorrow night also and doing some hiking in the tundra and hills behind us. It is supposed to snow but not much so maybe we will wake up to some more snow on the ground.

What a beautiful sunset last night, Granger and I walked up onto the hill in front and I took some pics while he walked around smelling and looking for berries. We stayed up late and saw the best northern lights show we have ever seen, amazing! Was hard to go to bed but it was getting cold out there and everyone was ready to go to bed well everyone but Kevin but I dragged myself in.
