Blog Entry:
Really slept in this morning after 8 am when we finally got up. Very pretty pink sunrise that we just watched from inside the camper. Warmer than I thought it would be this morning, 26 degrees. It was 36 in the camper so turned the heat on for a bit warmed it up to 43 and crawled out of the sleeping bags to take the pups out. Moxee was talking to us so she was ready, lol! Everyone had breakfast and the adults drank their coffee and finally looked at the drone video I took at the Arctic Circle.
We are wondering if there is going to be any snow there tomorrow when we go through. If so and the wind is good will be another drone run. Got the backpack together for our hike (Kevin's 30 essentials) and the drone. Sammies off lead so they can run, play, eat all the berries they want (Granger especially), and explore to their little hearts content. They did all of that and plus some vole hunting, they didn't get one but they tried. Hike up to two of the three hills behind us had to go through the tundra first which is always spongy with a possible ankle or knee injury if you're not careful. Note: I twisted my left knee here in 2023 pretty good which was the final straw for that knee caused me to have a partial knee replacement Jan. 2024. Once we got a bit higher on the hills it was shale and hard ground so much easier to walk on. Sun behind the clouds but just beautiful out here with all the snow on the hills. I lost the drone again and this time I did wait for the return to home to register before I started flying. This is more a note for Kevin to read over and over again when your 12,000 plus feet away you can't go down into river valley's because the drone and the controller will lose signal! RTH worked as is should and I continued taking video.
We then went back to camp by then it had warmed up to 35 degrees and all had lunch and the pups took a nap from all the fun they had. We walked around some more and partially climbed the third hill, played and just relaxed the rest of the day. No wind so another campfire two in a row here that is unheard of here. More clouds tonight and they look like snow clouds. Not much of a sunset tonight to socked in by clouds. By the time we were ready to go to bed the wind started picking up and clearing the sky a little. I decided with the way things looked I would pack everything up tonight instead of waiting till the morning. Good thing I did because boy did the wind pick up overnight, camper was rocking and rolling all night. Lesa got some more northern light action on the GoPro before the clouds moved back in. If all goes good we should be off the Dempster today.
